John N. Heinen (the 1st) settled here from Luxemburg. He started the first "Heinen's" in 1899 in Rogers, Mn just a few miles north of our Osseo location. The little boy in the bottom/middle is John N. Heinen (the 2nd), who started the Osseo Location in the mid 30's. He is also pictured in the picture to the right, many many years later.
John N Heinen (the 2nd). He branched out from the Rogers location his father started and was awarded the International tractor brand for the Osseo location. A few of his customers still come in the store today and mention what a great guy he was. John passed away from a heart attack at 66 years of age, September 17th,1966 just a few blocks away from his store in Osseo, and only a week from retirement. This picture was taken in 1954 on the showroom floor that is still being used today.
John N Heinen (the 3rd) grew up working hard in the farm feilds and the store. He took over the business in 1966 after his father died. John incorporated the dealership with his brother in law Don Mason and changed the name to what most of our customers remember as "Heinen & Mason Inc". John took on Polaris snowmobiles as a fun thing to do in the winter when the farming was slow. Snowmobiles quickly became his passion. Don sold his half of the company to Scott Regan, a land developer and owner of the Osseo bus company. John was ready for retirement, and sold his half of the company to his son Paul in 1994. John just celebrated his 74th birthday. He lives in Outing, Mn enjoying what he refers to as "Gods country".
Paul Heinen, pictured with his wife April. They met in 7th Grade!! Paul starting working full time at the dealership when he was 15 years old, and continuing working full time all the way through high school and college. He worked in every facet of the dealership, starting as a sweeper, helping set-up farm irrigation, mechanic, parts person, and finally taking over his fathers ownership in 1994 when John finally had enough! With his passion for motorsports, he took this little farm store/dealership and grew it to be the largest volume Polaris dealer on the planet by 1999. Polaris only made ATV's and Snowmobiles so Paul sought out motorcycles and watercraft. He added Husqvarna Motorcycles in 1999, Yamaha and Arctic Cat in 2003, Suzuki in 2004, MV Agusta in 2007, Kymco in 2010 and finally Tige' boats in 2011. Paul changed the name of the company from Heinen & Mason, to "Heinen's, and Heinen Motorsports" in 2003. Paul was partners with Scott Regan up till 2010 when he bought Scott out to take over 100% of the company.
